Author to Read from Novel Set in Kashmir

Dr. Kaung’s Salon: Novelist Meena A. Nayak

Meena A. Nayak reads from her new, fourth novel, Endless Rain (Penguin). She will talk about how she came to write about terrorism in Kashmir, and her research trips there. Meena teaches Creative Writing and Mythology at Northern Virginia Community College.

Kyi says, “Come and find out more about Kashmir -- a place of political turmoil as well as unrivaled beauty, so often featured in world-class writing out of India, especially in the novels of Salman Rushdie. What happens when a writer is compelled to write about a place but knows the research for it could become life threatening?”

Our informal agenda:
• Meet, greet, and eat: 6:30 to 7pm
• Reading, talk, and questions: 7 to 8:30pm
