"This show spans work made in Russia, Ukraine, and Western Europe while traveling in 2009. I make all of my drawings on-site, using graphic shapes of color and negative space to convey a sense of place. Pieces
in this show come from a diverse range of locations, including abandoned buildings, soviet apartments, wooden churches, and rural farms."
Meredith Nelson is a freelance illustrator living in Silver Spring. She specializes in location-specific drawing.

I can't believe I just found this blog! I was JUST at Kefa yesterday morning for a business meeting. Having arrived early, I got a chance to look around. I'm an artist myself - I love these! The color and the graphic elements (esp of the piles of crockery and pans) appealed so well to my eye. I loved that they were done in brush marker, too.
Plus, the coffee and atmosphere was great! Kefa is my new favorite place!
