Anne Becker, poet laureate of Takoma Park (MD), hosts and reads with Naomi Ayala, Nan Fry, Anne Sheldon, Ninie G. Syarikin, exploring the theme of creation: mythic, cultural, biologic, physical, and artistic.

These poems encompass beginnings—the birth of matter, the universe, living things.

“In the first days, in the very first days,

When everything needed was brought into being,
When everything needed was properly nourished,
when bread was baked in the shrines of the land
And bread was eaten in the homes of the land . . .”

They tell stories which locate the human place in the cosmos and delineate human values, which give meaning to our lives.
